3 Iranian Oil Tankers Enter Arabian Sea Amid Tensions
Ship-tracking data reveals that three sanctioned Iranian tankers—the Diona, Hero II, and Sonia I—carrying a combined 3.8 million barrels of crude oil have crossed the U.S. blockade line in the Gulf of Oman into the Arabian Sea. While President Donald Trump announced the immediate removal of the blockade on Sunday, the U.S. military stated it remains officially in effect until the peace deal is signed this Friday. Maritime analysts note that this movement, marking Iran's first oil exports in two months, signals Tehran's confidence that the restrictions are practically over. The strict U.S. blockade had previously crippled Iran's oil exports, forcing them down to a six-year low of 260,000 barrels per day in May. Following the peace deal announcement, monitoring groups have observed a global surge in activity among Iranian-linked vessels, with several long-dormant tankers turning on their location trackers and preparing to return to circulation.
